Given the instant access to free online information and consistent social media streams, it’s a great idea to follow accounts to get tips, news, and coverage of the latest developments from the world of online texas holdem for real money. We review and suggest our favorite five accounts for you to follow.
PokerNews
@PokerNews – Twitter
With almost 175k followers, there’s a good reason why so many people follow this account from the popular website, PokerNews. It has daily news as it emerges from the sport and is always of high quality, as they produce appealing content. As they generally have media coverage for a lot of the professional tour events they post a lot of live content as it happens when players arrive or sit down at the tables which takes you closer to the tournament without actually being there. This is usually complemented with key footage from notable plays as they bring you snippets of the tournament action.
As the name suggests, the site primarily posts news elements, often with links to its website site to read the full article. However, from time to time you can see strategy and tip content while also prompting the occasional sign-up offer.
Fedor Holz
@fedorholz – Instagram
If you followed the competitive poker scene in the mid-2010s, then it was impossible not to hear about Fedor Holz. The German made a living for himself by continually being of the best players, especially in 2015 and 2016.
He’s now more than just a player but also the brand ambassador for GGPoker. As such, he shares a lot of content on his Instagram. While he posts many pictures of him enjoying life (which tend to be very wholesome), he does a great job of inspiring new players and explaining some in-game scenarios.
There are also some very interesting features on this channel like Follow Fedor or Ask Fedor which essentially show the player in live games or answer top poker FAQs as he tries to explain how he became such a good player.
Fedor loves being at the height of fashion too. So you can expect a few posts of him styling new clothes as well as promoting his own brand. However, these clothes tend to be a stark contrast to the GGPoker hooded top he’s paid to wear at poker tournaments now.
Poker Code
@pokercode – TikTok
So this one is essentially Feder Holz’s second account. However, there are no pictures of his meals or trips and it is distinctly lacking in selfies. Instead, this is pure poker tips and coaching. Holz breaks down multiple strategies for playing poker as well as how to overcome certain obstacles when at the table. I..e he explains how to defuse an aggressive player, and why you shouldn’t fold all the time among other poker scenarios.
Doug Polk Poker
@DougPolkPoker – YouTube
Doug Polk made his career playing No Limit variations of Texas Hold’em. While he’s still very much an active player he’s taking the time to post daily updates on his social media accounts. His YouTube channel is a treasure trove of poker information. He uploads a wealth of poker news meaning that followers can keep up with the latest developments from the world of Texas Hold’em and other poker variations. This includes reactions to big hands or plays from key tournaments.
His content also covers some coaching materials as he has a whole playlist dedicated to poker strategy. There are also some playlists in which he tries to complete specific poker challenges like turning $100 into $100,000. In these he often streams his live poker games and talks through his thinking while actually playing, offering valuable insight as to how professional poker players think.
Upswing Poker
@UpswingPoker – Twitter
Upswing Poker is a great social media presence on Twitter that offers some fantastic links and tools to quickly become a better player. Furthermore, they often collaborate with contemporary poker players to help them curate great media for their channels.
As well as the great tips and tricks to help you become a better player, Upswing Poker also hosts a few streams where players show you exactly what they do when in live games. Their commentary on the hand and the table is invaluable in terms of understanding how pro players assess the game.
That’s not all either. The account also presents the biggest news stories from poker, bringing them to your attention. However, a great attribute of Upswing Poker’s articles (on the full site) is that when they document a previous event, they go into deep analysis of how and why the game played out as it did.
